Blaine has been a life-long athlete. He grew up playing competitive soccer, swimming, and racing cross country but his competitive spirit has been ever present. From racing big wheels around the block as a kid to charging big, cold surf in remote locations, he’s always been called to seek out the unknown things about himself through sports.
In 2009, as the result of a bet (and as Blaine says “and age and lifestyle led to weight gain”), Blaine took on the challenge of completing a 70.3. He DNF’ed his first race. Blaine says, “it had me considering that while I hadn’t gone well enough to finish that day, there was so much more potential inside me. I felt like a kid again, trying to see how far, hard, or deep I could go! Racing both long and short endurance events has been a major part of my life ever since”.
Blaine is a multiple Ironman Finisher, 70.3 World Championship Qualifier, and multiple podium athlete.
With over 14 years of experience as a competitive triathlete, Blaine has worked with some of the top coaches in the nation. He has coached athletes since 2021 and has guided multiple athletes to podiums in triathlon and big wave surfing. He is a high school cross-country coach of over 40 athletes with multiple state qualifiers. Valiant Endurance Head
Coach Lauren Vallee met Blaine at the 2018 Ironman Louisville and was impressed by his spirit and athletic ability.
Blaine is an Ironman University Certified Coach, has a degree in engineering, and is self described data science nerd.
Blaine believes that “fitness and performance come from an ability to overcome one’s physical, emotional, and mental obstacles. This resilience is the result of discovering bits of ourselves in tough training sessions, dark moments in races, and in the pursuit of excellence in sport. Sport allows us to create a wholeness of self that we get to express in movement. I see this as the pursuit of one’s ultimate potential”.
